My Bio

Hello, my name is John, and I love to paddle. So much so, that upon retirement I came to Florida where paddling can be done 12 months a year. I paddle canoes, kayaks and now dragon boats. For the last two years I have been the Operations Director for the Florida Paddling Trails Association. That has given me the opportunity to paddle many places within Florida. From Pensacola in the panhandle to the Everglades in the southern peninsula region all are great areas to paddle.

To appreciate the beautiful state, I have completed the Florida Master Naturalist program. Also there are many fine books about Florida's nature and ecosystems. As a tour guide I have developed leadership skills through my past experiences as a Scoutmaster and business manager. My kayaking skills started on Lake Erie where the water is really never to warm or too calm. There I learned the value of wet exits and re-entries. Other skills needed were good paddle techniques and safety.

Leading Tour groups of all skill levels I have managed to give all participants a feeling of accomplishment and enjoyment. Hopefully a few will have continued this magnificent way to experience the waterways and nature!

Thank You

John Norris
